Visit To kalangala District(Bukasa Island)

PAF successfully completed its outreach mission to Bukasa Island in Kalangala District from 11th to 14th July 2026. The mission aimed at strengthening community relationships, assessing the well-being of children and families, engaging local leaders and church members, and monitoring the progress of partner institutions supported by the Foundation.

After the haulting of fishing due to poor fishing methods, the able bodied men and youth onn this site resorted to offloading merchandise that is on the island and women resorted to prostitution.


The Foundation team began its activities at Jana Landing Site, where they interacted with community members and gained a better understanding of their daily lives and social challenges.
The team then traveled to Lwazi, Bubeke Island, where they met with children and local gentlemen. The interaction provided an opportunity to discuss issues affecting children, education, family welfare, and community development. The Foundation encouraged the residents to continue supporting children’s education and promoting positive social values within their communities.

The mission continued to Lwanabatya Landing Site, where Foundation staff engaged with members of the community. Residents shared how they depend on horticulture and animal husbandry as their main sources of livelihood. The discussions highlighted both the achievements and challenges faced by farmers and families in the area.

PAF also visited Friends of Heart Junior School in Lukuba, a school constructed by the Foundation to support access to quality education for children in the island communities. The team assessed the school’s progress, interacted with learners and staff, and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting education and child development.

While in Lukuba Village, the Foundation met with church members and held discussions regarding the challenges affecting their congregation and the wider community. The engagement provided valuable insights into social, economic, and spiritual concerns that require continued collaboration and support.

The team later returned to Lwanabatya Landing Site, where they observed that the community is served by only one health center. Residents also expressed concerns about the poor communication and network connectivity in the area, which limits access to information, emergency services, and other opportunities for development.

The mission concluded in Kisaba, where the Foundation visited Joy Nursery and Primary School, a valued partner institution of PAF. The visit focused on strengthening partnerships, monitoring educational progress, and discussing future areas of collaboration to improve learning opportunities for children.

Overall, the mission was successfully completed and provided the Foundation with important firsthand information about the needs, achievements, and challenges of the island communities.
