Skill Training By Women in Lugonjo-Nakiwogo Village

Based on the live experiences and growing concerns among women, The Women in Lugonjo–Nakiwogo Village have embarked on a skills training program aimed at improving their livelihoods and promoting self-reliance. The women are being trained in tailoring, hairdressing, knitting, and crocheting, which are practical vocational skills that can generate income and create employment opportunities.

Through this initiative, participants are gaining hands-on experience, enhancing their creativity, and building confidence to start small businesses or secure employment. The program is expected to improve household incomes, reduce poverty, and empower women to contribute more effectively to the development of their families and the community.

Skills training programs such as tailoring, hairdressing, knitting, and crocheting have been recognized in Uganda as important tools for women’s economic empowerment and self-employment.

The Journey Continues: More Support is Needed
The work is far from over. Transforming a village is the first step, but sustaining a high-quality practical hands-on skill training requires commitment.

For a better hands-on skill development continuity in Lugonjo village we still need to provide for its women with materials;

HAIR AND SALON: Bbraids, movit chemicals, rollers, shampoo, treatment, needles, yarns among others.

TAILORING Support: Scissors, Threads, Measuring, Bobin, Needles among others.

COMPUTER Programs: Computers and their comopnents.
