A Young Mans Dream Beyond Fishing

Transforming Communities
Fig01

Fig 01 is an eighteen year old young man that we recently met at Lwanabatya landing site.

His story reflects the challenges faced by many children growing up in isolated and underserved communities. Despite reaching the age of eighteen, he has never had the opportunity to attend school or even see a classroom blackboard throughout his life.
Like many young people in his fishing community, he depends on fishing as his primary means of survival. However, he dreams of acquiring practical skills that can help him earn a sustainable living beyond fishing and create a brighter future for himself and his family.

The young man expressed a strong desire to enroll in vocational and skills-training programs where he can learn a trade such as carpentry, tailoring, welding, mechanics, or other income-generating skills. His determination to learn and improve his life is inspiring and demonstrates the potential that exists within many young people when given the right opportunities.

PNEUMA AFRICAN FOUNDATION remains committed to identifying and supporting vulnerable youth by connecting them with education and skills-development opportunities. We believe that empowering young people with practical skills is a vital step toward reducing poverty, promoting self-reliance, and building stronger communities.

“Every young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a future filled with hope and dignity.”
